I must confess: I love flowers. I LOVE them. My mother was a florist and taught me everything she knew, and for a long time, I was a florist with her. We had a blast doing all of the flower arrangements for weddings, and during prom season, we loved to eat junk food while making corsages. So I naturally love to paint flowers.

But there is something I love infinitely more than flowers. It’s the One who made the flowers. Every time I look at a flower, God astounds me with how much of an artist He is. The amount of detail on a flower is mind-blowing.

People ask me if I am an artist, and most of the time, I respond with a “Sort of, yeah” and a smile. But all of the artists on this earth only reflect a fraction of the skill of their Creator, God, who is so much more of an artist than any of us ever could be.

I love what Isaiah 40:8 says: “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” No matter how beautiful a flower is, it does not last forever. It fades and leaves us with only the memory how beautiful it was. But God and His word will never fade.
